What is APICS certification?

APICS The Association for Operations Management is an organization that provides certification for operations and supply chain management professionals in the manufacturing industry. In the past, APICS has offered a variety of evolving designation programs; but at this time, they have three designations that are available to the community of manufacturing professionals. Those designations are:

• APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)
• APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
• APICS Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management (CFPIM)

The first two of the designations, CPIM and CSCP, are earned based on test scores and are maintained through APICS-related and professional activities. The third designation, CFPIM, is earned by obtaining the CPIM designation and achieving additional professional fellowship activities.

For each of these designations, it is important to maintain them through professional activities. If they are not maintained, designation holders risk suspension of their credentials.
